PTSD is a type of brain injury and a Stellate Ganglion Block helps treat that injury.

STELLATE GANGLION BLOCK
SGB Treatment for PTSD/Trauma

A 15-minute outpatient procedure, that GETS YOU RESULTS!

80% of People Treated with SGB Found Relief From Their PTSD and related severe symptoms such as Depression / Anxiety, Agitation / Nervousness, Issues Concentrating / Remembering, Mood Swings, Panic, Paranoia, Suicidal Thoughts / Attempts, Weakness / Dizziness / Vertigo, Tremors / Shakiness, Frequent Headaches and more

SGB gave me an extra second to not lose my cool.

With PTSD, there is no such thing as "one-time trauma;"
 its effects are continuous.
A Stellate Ganglion Block can change that! The safest SGB shot are delivered under Ultrasound Guidance.

This 15-minute procedure can help reset the overactive sympathetic "fight or flight reflex" in a PTSD (trauma) patient, thereby relieving PTSD and related symptoms like Hyperarousal, Depression, Anxiety, Startle Response, Nervousness, Agitation, Panic, Paranoia, Suicidal Thoughts, Shakiness, Dizziness, Headaches, and more. "Hyper arousable" and "hyper-vigilant" patients respond even better! Best of all, the difference is felt by patients within minutes, and... the effects last.

I was more relaxed [after SGB]. It was what normal people feel like and I was missing out on that for a long time.

SGB took away the internal anxiety so I could feel safe enough to process.

What is a "Stellate Ganglion Block" Treatment?
How can it relieve PTSD & related Symptoms such as anxiety and paranoia within minutes of a single procedure?

FINALLY, a recognition of PTSD as a brain injury:

Research shows after experiencing trauma, the way that our brain functions, may change i.e it is injured.

In some cases, with extreme stressors, our brain may become injured and become stuck in “fight or flight” mode. This is actually visible in certain types of brain scans.

When the brain is stuck in the "fight or flight" state, it is unable to relax.

Many PTSD patients have brains that have been stuck in the "fight or flight," high-stress state for years or even decades.

A Stellate Ganglion Block helps the brain get unstuck by re-setting the Sympathetic Nervous System.

I was more relaxed [after SGB]. It was what normal people feel like and I was missing out on that for a  long time.

The Stellate Ganglion is a group of nerves that controls the "fight or flight" response (the sympathetic nervous system) in the brain. In some PTSD patients, it can become dysfunctional or activated inappropriately. As a result, the patient is in a constant "Fight or Flight" mode, i.e., Hyper arousable, Hyper-vigilant mode.

A Stellate Ganglion Block Procedure temporarily blocks sympathetic signals between the brain and the body by an anesthetic injection into the Stellate Ganglion, the nerves responsible for communication of Sympathetic response between the brain and the body. This block helps to reset the Sympathetic Nervous System, so the person is no longer in a constant "fight or flight" response.

This block is temporary (a few hours) but can allow the brain to "get unstuck" from its "fight, flight or freeze" pattern and bring it back to the neutral, restful, pre-PTSD parasympathetic state.

Patients report feeling different (calm, less anxious) within minutes and, with lasting results!*

What patients report feeling Before and After an SGB Treatment:

Before SGB Treatment:

A PTSD brain is hyper-vigilant, easily startled, anxious, fearful, hyper arousable, and easily triggered.

After SGB Treatment:

After SGB treatment, patients report feeling calm and less anxious, able to process and ready to talk.

Without the right support, PTSD is a HEAVY Burden to bear.

With SGB, you can take back control of your life!

If you are suffering from PTSD or Trauma (and related symptoms like depression, anxiety, hyperarousal, startle response, confusion, and doubt, cognitive issues, sleep problems, chronic pain, and more); and have been undergoing treatment with little to no results; please get a SECOND OPINION.

It is possible your brain is stuck in a sympathetic pattern (a physical dysfunction in the brain); which can be fixed with a Stellate Ganglion Block, a simple 15-minute procedure.

How promising is the Stellate Ganglion Block for PTSD?
What does the research say?

Let's look at the amazing results from clinical studies and Outcomes data:

In 2019 in the JAMA Psychiatry, was published the first Large Scale, 8-week, study on SGB for PTSD with 113 participants:

Effect of Stellate Ganglion Block Treatment on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Reference: Rae Olmsted KL, Bartoszek M, Mulvaney S, et al. Effect of Stellate Ganglion Block Treatment on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms: A Randomized Clinical Trial. JAMA Psychiatry. 2020;77(2):130–138. doi:10.1001/jamapsychiatry.2019.3474

There was significant improvement in not just PTSD, but also PTSD related symptoms (hyperarousal, depression, anxiety, pain, physical and mental functioning). This improvement was significantly greater than in patients treated with placebo.

In qualitative review, participants reported significant improvement from their usual "Hyperarousal" state. Here are some reported comments:

It [SGB] gave me an extra second to not lose my cool.

SGB gave me a buffer between the 0 to 10 zone.

Many participants in the study reported having an easier time with Psychotherpy after SGB Injection. Here are examples of some comments from participants - Ability to Address things: in psychotherapy

[SGB] removed the negative physical aspects and allows you to think about mental health.

SGB took away the internal anxiety so I could feel safe enough to process.

"We all face challenges in our lives. These challenges can be overbearing, impacting our body and mind with lasting effects.  I have helped many patients that have lived with this "PTSD Brain." Some had been living with it for years, even decades. I hope you don't wait that long! It takes strength and courage to carry this burden, especially on your own. I want you to leverage that same courage to try something new and take a chance with me, my team, and SGB. We want to be part of a new journey with you...a new path.

A path of faith
A path of recovery
A path of healing
A path of HOPE.

I would be honored to be your doctor,
earn your trust and be on this path WITH YOU.

With new research, now we know and understand the changes to the brain in PTSD patients. What can we do to change the brain back to the pre-PTSD state?

OUR BRAIN-BASED APPROACH GOES BEYOND TRADITIONAL PSYCHIATRY TO GET YOUR RESULTS!

Stellate Block helps us do just that. It helps heal the "injury to the brain"... (it being stuck in "Fight or Flight Mode") and helps to bring it back to its neutral, restful parasympathetic state. This state allows a person to function normally and not in a constant state of fear or reaction.

Traditional PTSD treatments come with their own sets of challenges such as patient adherence, significant delays in relief resulting in possible deterioration of the patient, and side-effects.

In the last couple of years, I have had a chance to personally sit with the innovator of this treatment, Dr. Lipov, on these patients and the SGB procedure.

The outcomes data from his organization, as well as the Case Studies & Research shared by the  Department of Veteran's Affairs, is compelling.

Stellate Ganglion Block has shown promise with a significant reduction in PTSD and related symptoms, fast relief, and lasting results. It is also a one-time quick procedure, which is fantastic for these patients. Those with more severe symptoms reported more significant improvement!

In a lot of my PTSD patients that are very agitated, hyper-arousable, and highly anxious, this treatment can do wonders within minutes of the injection...and the positive results last. SGB is a game-changer, and PTSD patients deserve it!

Having said all that, I must point out this treatment will not work for everyone. A handful of my patients took much longer to see results - more like three months. It's not a magic bullet and will not alleviate all their symptoms and issues. I don't want my patients to stop doing other treatments just because they did SGB. I have continued to encourage all my SGB patients to continue treatment with their other providers as this will only help other treatments. In my experience, patients after SGB injections are more likely to find success even with other treatments like talk therapy or suggestions from their psychiatrist.

Botton line: The reason I love the SGB treatment is that it is safe (has been used for a long time for other treatments); works fast (within minutes many times), is long-lasting; and synergistic with other treatments for PTSD. I don't ever want my PTSD patients to stop other treatments because they received an SGB treatment from me. This is very important to me.

Because of the nature of the treatment, I am not limiting it to just PTSD patients. If you have some adverse and extreme life event, death of a loved one, a long-term illness, and a hard time with conventional methods of treatments like Psychotherapy, I will consult with you to see if this is a treatment for you. Trauma shows up differently in different people, and I am here to help anyone who this treatment can help.

My patients should know, we will do a 1 day, 3 days, 14 days, 30 days, and 90-day follow-up if you receive treatment from me. You must respond to each of these follow-ups to ensure smooth treatment. We may even suggest additional therapies depending on your results and progress. Please know, you can reach out to my staff or me at any time. We will always be available to you.

We are in this together! Living with PTSD is hard and a heavy burden to bear. This treatment is promising and gives me hope! Let's reboot your Sympathetic brain and help your heal. Because once we are healed, we can be so much more - be better humans, better parents, better friends, and better members of the society."
